Did a model shoot at Preston Photographic Society today. Couple of lights, black background and a model. Oh and my Pentax 67. If you’re going to the effort of faffing with lights ect. then might as well bring out the big guns. Check them out on the Google+ page.

I had stopped pursuing band photograph previously because 1) there’s no money in it 2) I thought it was limiting. Recently though I have been having ideas for model shoots but nothing that really suited the average model plus it was a lot of faff (and possible expense) to sort out a model myself. Sa-da-kO contacted me for a photo shoot and the idea just clicked. Here are the results. If more bands are willing to put up with me ordering them around then I’ll do a shoot at a cut down price.
Had to have the obligatory group shot. Couldn’t really think of anything too original for this one so did a more generic one.
Arc Studios help a model shoot night on Monday that was only for film cameras. This was too good an opportunity to miss so I brought my huge 8×10 camera with me.
Yesterday I did a studio shoot with the Preston Photographic Society with a volunteer model for the evening. One of the guys brought a black background and 4 fancy studio lights with large soft boxes to the scene.
The lighting was rigged up to give the right exposure at F/11 ISO 200 (or F/8 ISO 100). Everyone else brought their DSLRs so everyone’s images would have been pretty much fully sharp all the way through. Just to be really awkward I brought my Pentax 67 medium format camera instead. With it’s narrower DOF at the same aperture as everyone else’s DSLRs mine had to be focused just right. Continue reading

What you will get is one group shot photograph 300 pixels in it’s smallest dimension* and one photograph each of the band members at 200 pixels in it’s smallest dimension*. For portrait photography you will get one portrait photograph at 300 pixels in it’s smallest dimension. Each photograph will have a faint discrete <JAG> Photography water mark at the bottom left or right corner that doesn’t get “in the way” of the photo.
*For example pictures could be 200×374 or 280×200 depending on whether it’s landscape or portrait.
